Hi everyone.
We are down to the last 3 days, which will be lots of fun and excitement.
What's On
Monday, we have the school prizegiving starting 9am.
You are all warmly welcome to come along to celebrate the class awards. Children need to wear school uniform please.
School Tryathlon
Children need:
Togs, towel, bike or scooter (Please remember to sunblock your child before school)
The event will start at 10.30am with the Seniors and the Juniors will begin around 12pm. The Juniors will swim/walk or duck dive the width of our pool. They will then run down to the Senior playground area to collect their scooter or bike and go 1 lap around the astroturf. After the bike/scooter they will run 1 lap around the field, finishing on the astroturf. Very exciting, let's pray for fine weather.
2.15pm the children will visit their new teacher for next year.

Wednesday:
At 11am we have Year 6 Missioning celebration to farewell our Year 6 students.
School will finish 12pm.
I would like to say thank you for all your support over the year. The children are a lovely group of kids and I am very proud of the learners they are becoming. I have enjoyed getting to know you and the children. I wish for you a blessed Christmas and a happy new year.
Ideas for the holidays.
Please keep reading over the holidays. The library has many cool books. Know also that reading easy books is very beneficial for your child. They practice needed reading strategies as they are not focusing so much on working out words, they practice fluency and feel confident. Reading to them and talking about stories, characters is a lovely way to enjoy reading together.
Mathematics
Practice basic number facts and different ways to make 5 and 10. The best learning comes from seeing how numbers work in everyday life. Counting up and down from any number in the 0 to 100 range as you drive or walk along, skip counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, adding and subtracting apples etc at the supermarket.
Writing - keeping a journal with a daily entry of what they did, shopping lists, letters, cards. Having a collection of paper, pens, pencils, crayons to encourage them.
Maths: I pasted an example of some quick recall basic facts in the kids homework book to practice over the holidays. The best learning of course comes from any incidental maths, such as counting in the car up to 100, skip counting in 2's, counting backwards and forwards, number before and after numbers, adding and subtracting apples etc at the supermarket.
Writing examples: writing cards to family members, shopping lists, writing notes to Mum and Dad, have a collection of paper, pens, pencils, crayons to encourage them to draw and write about their ideas.
God bless
Susan
