The children have come back ready to learn and do their best which is great. Thanks for supporting them with their reading over the holidays.
I retested spelling lists one, two and three. As is usual some of the words have been forgotten over the holidays so we are working on those.
Please keep talking to your child about what is happening in the story and pictures when reading books come home. When stuck they can go past the word, and then try the sentence again, looking at the pictures and story for clues to what word would make sense. It would also be helpful if they could read today's and yesterdays books for reading mileage.
Religious Education
We continue with the rosary. The children are learning the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be. They are doing well and enjoying bringing rosary beads to school.
If you have not returned the following can you please return them by the end of this week. Thanks

Congratulations Hiwa! You received a Principals Award for excellent progress and effort after a year at school.
Congratulations also to Joseph Ronayne, Joshua Finnerty, Jayla Hyde, Isabel McCashin, Miah Rowe, Kymani Waiti, Chloe Yuill and Jet Jensen who are also six. I am very proud of the way you have worked and made such great progress this year.
Mathematics
We are looking at adding numbers together by holding the biggest number in our heads (remembering that number) and then adding on with our fingers. The goal is to be able to do this with sums up to 100, e.g., 16 + 4 (16) and then count with fingers 17, 18, 19, 20. They need to know what is one more than another number in order to do this. Any ways you can do this in the car or when having conversations with your child would be great.
If your child can count to 100 and know what is one more than any number up to 100 they are ready to count back from 100 and know what number is one less. Below is a clip they can listen to.
Have a great week parents
